Malaysia Airlines has reaffirmed its growth ambitions in Australia and New Zealand, as it celebrated its top-performing travel trade partners at an event in Sydney.
Around 100 travel advisors, agency partners and industry figures attended the airline’s Elite Trade Partner Evening at CIRQ, Crown Sydney.
The event recognised Malaysia Airlines’ leading trade partners while providing updates on its network, fleet and commercial plans for the region.
Malaysia Airlines ramps up ANZ capacity
Australia and New Zealand remain key markets for Malaysia Airlines, with the carrier reporting strong demand for connections through Kuala Lumpur to Asia, India and beyond.
The airline has been increasing capacity across Australia.
Adelaide services were boosted earlier this year, while Brisbane will increase from five to seven flights a week from October.
Malaysia Airlines is also deploying its new Airbus A330neo as part of its wider fleet modernisation program.
Dersenish Aresandiran, chief commercial officer of airline business at Malaysia Aviation Group, said travel advisors remained central to the carrier’s growth.
“Our travel trade partners have been instrumental to Malaysia Airlines’ success across Australia and New Zealand,” Aresandiran said.
“As we enhance our products, expand connectivity and elevate the customer experience, our trade partners remain central to our growth strategy.”
Malaysia push continues
Malaysia Airlines is also using its international network to encourage travellers to explore beyond Kuala Lumpur.
Its Bonus Side Trip program gives eligible international passengers a complimentary domestic flight to selected destinations within Malaysia.
The initiative supports the country’s wider tourism push under Visit Malaysia 2026, which has been extended through 2027.
Aresandiran said the airline would continue working with the trade to drive demand from Australia and New Zealand and connect more travellers through its Kuala Lumpur hub.
