Park Hyatt Sydney has appointed Bastian Germer as its new general manager, bringing more than three decades of luxury hospitality experience to the harbourside property.
Germer’s career includes senior roles at leading global properties including Four Seasons Resort Maldives, Raffles Hotel Singapore, The Ritz-Carlton Osaka, The Ritz-Carlton Toronto and The New York EDITION.
Most recently, Germer worked as general manager at The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad.
Germer, who grew up in Hamburg, Germany, said his approach to leadership was shaped early by a lesson from a Four Seasons mentor – that the greatest gift a leader can offer is the ability to make a positive difference in someone’s life.
“To lead Park Hyatt Sydney, right on the harbour’s edge, is something I don’t take lightly,” Germer said. “The hotel reflects the city’s quiet elegance and its sense of place – that balance of calm, beauty and thoughtful detail. Being part of that story, and part of this community, is something I’m truly excited about.”
Germer said his focus at Park Hyatt Sydney would be on strengthening the colleague experience as a foundation for guest experience, alongside building on the hotel’s more than three-decade legacy on Sydney Harbour.
